New Music Fridays

About the campaign

In February 2015, it was confirmed that the release day for new music would be aligned internationally on a Friday. This means that, starting from July 10 2015, new albums and singles will be released at 00:01 local time on Fridays. Music consumers everywhere will know to look for new releases on Fridays regardless of where they are in the world.

Release days have traditionally varied from one country to another, causing frustration for consumers when music fans in other parts of the world can access new releases before them. As well as helping music fans, New Music Fridays also create the opportunity to re-ignite excitement and a sense of occasion around the release of new music.

The implementation of New Music Fridays has been done in consultation with record labels, artist groups and retailers internationally. This website provides logo and branding materials for record companies, retailers and others to use in different ways to for branding and promotion. It also provides guidelines with best advice for making use of the materials.
